Today, someone involved in organizing the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games came in for treatment at Yurumari Acupuncture Clinic. We’re welcoming more and more clients from all over the world these days, and it’s genuinely inspiring.
Moments like this always bring back memories of my years working as an onboard acupuncturist on cruise ships. Around the Mediterranean, I made stops in Barcelona in Spain, Athens in Greece, Venice in Italy, Civitavecchia (the port for Rome), and Lisbon in Portugal, among other places across Europe. Beautiful coastlines, wonderful cities, incredible seafood and wine — they’re some of my happiest memories.
Resetting the body to “zero position” through skeletal muscle correction
My acupuncture technique centers on skeletal muscle correction, guiding the body back toward what I call its “zero position.” That’s also the first step toward a well-balanced autonomic nervous system.
The neck and skull area in particular matter a great deal, and almost everyone carries some degree of misalignment there. Acupuncture releases the muscles and calms the nervous system. When it suits the person’s constitution, I also add cupping. Most people leave feeling noticeably lighter.
Acupuncture done lying face-up is a bit like rebooting a computer. Research suggests acupuncture can help normalize neurotransmitters such as serotonin, noradrenaline, beta-endorphin, GABA, and dopamine. It also clears what’s often called “brain fatigue,” so I recommend it especially to clients under heavy stress.
Working hard here in Fushimi, in the heart of Nagoya
My hope is always that clients leave with their body feeling about half as heavy as when they walked in. With that in mind, I keep working hard here in Fushimi, right in the heart of Nagoya.
Yurumari is just a short walk from Marunouchi and Sakae — close to sights like the Nagoya City Science Museum, and to good supermarkets where you can pick up a proper meal. If you’re ever hungry before or after your treatment, or looking for something nearby, feel free to just ask (laughs).
Cheering on the Asian Games — and the Asian Para Games ahead
Nagoya is currently hosting the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, and this October the same region will host the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games. The whole city feels charged with an extra dose of sporting energy and international exchange.
To every athlete competing, and to everyone involved in organizing and running these Games — I’m cheering you on the whole way. Thank you for bringing so much energy to Nagoya and to Fushimi!
